I want a new mountain bike and it won’t fit on a hanging rack. I needed a tray style of rack, so I bought this because it was a good price and had good reviews.

Assembly threw me because in the past I’ve had Thule and Yakima racks. If I had to do it again, I would’ve bought a Thule used. But this will be fine for me, I’m not planning to really travel with this. I just need it because my new bike won’t fit inside my vehicle well.

There are a couple of reasons I will not use this for long distance travel. First, it uses a lot of removable pins for keeping it together. I’m concerned about how this would hold up for a long road trip at highway speeds. Second, it doesn’t seem as secure as a Thule. I bought several locking pins so that it could not be disassembled as easily. After spending about 40 bucks on all the extra locking pins, it’s not quite as cheap anymore. And a hacksaw could easily defeat any locking pins, something to consider if you’re doing overnight travel with an expensive bicycle.
