Facebook and Instagram, the main establishments of social media, have received strong messages from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) of the United States. The government agency has cautioned the organization, stating that it is necessary for Meta to refrain from profiting by using children’s information.
The primary accusation is against Facebook. The FTC claims that the company’s undisclosed actions pose a risk to teenagers. Facebook will have to provide a response for this failure. The FTC believes that the policies in place to protect children are not being implemented effectively.

However, Meta has outright dismissed the allegations made by the government agency. The organization has stated that the FTC’s actions are politically motivated. Meta also comments that the government agency is reporting on them beyond their jurisdiction.
Nonetheless, the FTC claims that their statements are based on independent investigations. These investigations have revealed vulnerabilities and gaps in Facebook’s personal privacy. This has resulted in the creation of risks. Children under the age of 13 can communicate on this platform without parental permission.
